What clients have found useful
D. Patel
Managing Director, Bangkok
We had accumulated several years of questions about our withholding tax treatment and had never quite found the right moment to address them. The Tax Position Review gave us a clear written picture โ not alarming, just useful. We took the memorandum to our accountant and it prompted the most productive conversation we had had in years.

CFO, Manufacturing Company
The monthly close at our Thai subsidiary had become a source of real friction between the local team and our regional finance function. The accounting engagement helped us identify where the process was breaking down and what the chart of accounts was failing to capture. The weekly sessions were genuinely useful โ not just a review exercise.

Company Owner, Professional Services
I had a Revenue Department letter that I did not fully understand and was not sure what it required of me. Having someone available to read it carefully and explain what it was actually asking โ without creating panic โ was exactly what I needed. The retainer has been useful beyond that specific moment.

We engaged Anuman Partners ahead of a fundraise. The Tax Position Review surfaced two items that would have come up in due diligence and given us a difficult conversation. Having identified them in advance โ in a measured written format โ allowed us to address them properly before the process started.

Finance Director, Regional Group
What I found most useful was the tone. The written output was clear and acknowledged uncertainty where it existed rather than stating conclusions with false confidence. That is the kind of professional judgment you hope for and do not always get. The engagement with our finance team was handled well.

I had been meaning to do a proper tax review for three years. The engagement process was straightforward, the intake conversation helped focus the work, and the memorandum was delivered on time. I have since referred two colleagues who were in similar positions.

02 โ Case Studies
Situations we have worked through
Brief descriptions of the kinds of situations Anuman Partners engagements have addressed. Details changed for confidentiality.
Case 01 โ Tax Position Review
Situation
A Bangkok-based SME with a European parent company had grown over six years without a formal outside tax review. The Thai finance team handled compliance competently but had accumulated questions about the treatment of intercompany payments and the VAT position on certain service exports.
Work done
Tax Position Review covering two years of filed returns. Focus areas identified in intake: intercompany pricing documentation, VAT on service exports, and the withholding tax position on payments to foreign consultants. Written memorandum delivered with observations and open questions.
Outcome
Two items identified that the client's accountant agreed were worth addressing through voluntary disclosure. A third item โ initially flagged as a concern โ was determined on further review to be within acceptable interpretation. The memorandum was shared with the parent company's regional finance team.
Case 02 โ Accounting & Reporting Engagement
Situation
A professional services firm in Bangkok had grown from five to forty employees over four years. The chart of accounts had not been reviewed since founding and the monthly close was taking twelve days. Management reports were produced but rarely used in decision-making by the owners.
Work done
Six-week accounting engagement with weekly sessions alongside the finance team. The chart of accounts was restructured to produce department-level visibility. The close process was mapped and bottlenecks identified. A revised management report format was designed and tested against two months of historical data.
Outcome
Monthly close reduced to seven days. Management reports adopted as the primary tool for the owners' monthly review. The finance team reported that the process felt clearer and more manageable. A written set of observations and adjustments was delivered for future reference.
Case 03 โ Advisory Retainer
Situation
An owner-managed distribution business was considering a restructuring of its shareholding ahead of a potential sale. The owner had questions about the tax implications of various structures and wanted a counterpart who could engage on the questions over several months as the picture developed.
Work done
Six-month advisory retainer. Two sessions per month covering the evolving restructuring options and their Thai tax implications. Written correspondence on specific questions between sessions, including a response to a Revenue Department enquiry that arose mid-engagement. Session records maintained throughout.
Outcome
The owner was able to make informed decisions at each step of the restructuring process with a clear understanding of the tax considerations. The Revenue Department enquiry was handled without escalation. The retainer was renewed for a further six months following the completion of the restructuring.
